Shoulder pain is one of the most common complaints to the doctor. Of course there are a lot of common causes of shoulder pain too.

Depending on what you did to cause the shoulder injury, your doctor will usually prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs and possibly Tramadol for pain.

The treatment of choice to restore your shoulder to normal function would be rest and light duty things that are not going to hurt your shoulder. For the first 24 hours, ice packs should be used for 20 minutes every 2 hours. Thereafter, heat should be applied for 20 minutes every 2 hours.

The muscles and tendons should be stretched carefully without causing pain. Pain is indicative of causing injury.

An anti-inflammatory drug like ibuprofen can be taken to reduce inflammation along with Tramadol for pain relief.

Depending on the severity of the shoulder pain, your physician may order physical therapy.

If you are unable to carry objects or use the injured arm, shoulder pain that persists for more than a few days, or any other unusual symptoms should promptly be reported to your doctor.

Sometimes surgery is indicated if you have a rotator cuff tear or dislocation of the shoulder.

It is very important that you do not let shoulder pain go on for any long period of time. If you have shoulder pain and that pain radiates down to the elbow, there is a good chance that you could have a ruptured disk in your neck.

Everyone hurts their shoulders at some point in their life. Usually a muscle is pulled and reacts angrily by causing pain. A few trips to the chiropractor to let them manipulate your shoulders and neck can help a lot of times. Sometimes just sleeping wrong can cause problems also. That is where the term “crick in the neck” comes from.

Whiplashes from car accidents rank at the top of the list of neck and shoulder pain. This pain could last for years and take chiropractic visits twice a week for about six months.

It is imperative that you have the right desk and computer components at the correct height for spending so much time at your desk. An ergonomic chair fitted for you would be an extra plus. This could really cut down on shoulder pain. If bosses at work could embrace these ideas, they would find their call out rate would probably go down.
